If you want to get the AS3FlexDB version that works for AIR you can download from svn the branch 2.4 ( branches/2.4 in google code ) and you will see that this version has a lot of improvements and you can edit the code if you have new ideas. I hope I will have time to move this branch to trunk and make a new package until then the version is only accessible from branch.
